Biography
Mandy Leung
Mandy is a composer, engraver and educator based in Wales, UK. She is a recipient of the PRS Women Make Music fund and Sound and Music's COVID-19 Composer Award, and her music Funeral March has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3 by BBC National Orchestra of Wales as part of Composition: Wales 2021. Her latest commissions include Nostos from Opera North, When the Dragons Meet from Operasonic and National Contemporary Art Gallery for Wales, Pearl of the Orient and Forever Loved from PRS and City of Bristol Brass Band, Mae Yna Obaith from National Eisteddfod and Ty Cerdd, Ebb and Flow from Operasonic, Aurora from BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Ty Cerdd, and Sky Lanterns from Hong Kong Arts Development Council. In 2023, Mandy has been shortlisted as one of the six finalists for the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain Composition Competition with Excursion. More recently, she has been awarded the 2024 Acapela Studio Award by Welsh Music Guild to compose a new work for Jeremy Huw Williams.
